Lensman Leonardo Sens took the snap on the morning of 4 June from the beach of Praia de Icaraí, about 11 kilometers from Morro do Corcovado where the statue is located.
The clear sky made the shot, which Sens planned for three years, possible.
Sens posted the photo on his Instagram account and currently has more than 1.5 million likes.
In today’s fast-paced digital landscape, everything from commerce to communication is shifting online. But even amidst the buzz of bits and bytes, the teachings of Jesus Christ retain their timeless significance. Here’s how:
Digital Ethics 101: Drawing From The Gospel
Matthew 22:39 — “Love your neighbor as yourself”
Christ’s teachings of love, honesty, forgiveness, humility, and respect provide an ethical framework for our digital interactions. Whether it’s showing empathy in a tweet or maintaining integrity in virtual business transactions, His teachings help shape a more considerate virtual community.
It’s All About Community
As Paul stated in 1 Corinthians 12:26 — “If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it.”
Community and fellowship are cornerstones of Christ’s teachings, and they echo profoundly in the virtual world. The internet allows us to form and nurture communities without geographical boundaries. Social platforms, virtual meet-ups, online forums —they’re all about bringing people together, just as Christ intended.
Charity in the Cloud
Jesus’s teachings of compassion and charity, exemplified in Luke 6:38 — “Give, and it will be given to you”
The principles of service to others and charity are just a click away in the digital age. We can donate to a cause halfway across the globe, volunteer online, or support a crowdfunding project, demonstrating Christ’s message of compassion and charity through digital means.
Faith and Spirituality in Cyberspace
As stated in Matthew 18:20 — “For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.”
As we increasingly shift to a virtual environment, our need for spiritual connection remains the same. Digital platforms now allow virtual church services, online prayer groups, and religious webinars. Our spiritual journey continues, connecting with Christ from the comfort of our own homes.
A Compass in the Digital Chaos
Proverbs 4:27 — “Do not turn to the right or the left; keep your foot from evil.”
Christ’s teachings provide a moral compass for navigating the challenges unique to the digital world. Cyberbullying, online scams, and digital addiction — by following His principles, we can combat these issues effectively.
Spreading the Word: Digital Evangelism
Matthew 28:19–20 — “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations…”
The call to “go and make disciples of all nations” can now be realized through the vast reach of digital evangelism. From sharing faith-inspired content on social media to hosting online bible studies or streaming church services, spreading the Good News has never been easier.
Wrapping Up
Even as the world digitizes at an unprecedented pace, Jesus Christ’s timeless teachings continue to guide us, fostering ethical behavior, unity, charity, and spirituality. So, no matter how advanced our technology gets, there’s always room for the wisdom of the Original Influencer.
