How shocking it is that on Instagram, we can find all the solutions to our skin related problems. But are they reliable?

Trends…where do I start?
Ever since the rise of the dermatologists and aestheticians on Instagram where they educate us on common skincare Do’s and Don’ts along with common knowledge of skincare products especially pharmacy products, The Instagram influencers have taken the matters into their own hands and started to promote and even sometimes blatantly gone against common doctor’s advices.

NOW WHATS THE PROBLEM WITH THAT?

“They are influencers, they’ll influence! What’s the problem with that?” you might ask.
I’ll give you a few words — unqualified to give an opinion, not your job and bad influence.
Let’s dive into these words and make some sense out of it, shall we?
You are an influencer, your job is to try out products, promote them and influence. But when you promote products such as pharmacy skincare items and medications which require heaps of research and knowledge to just understand if the product is the correct product for your skin, IT.IS.WRONG.
Influencers and not qualified to give an opinion on behalf of doctors. Especially when it comes to your skin. (The topic is strictly related to pharmacy products, not common skincare products which can be found in any drugstore or online without any prescriptions)
This is not just for Influencers, it is for anyone who market pharmacy products.

I personally think that the person most qualified for the job should handle such a delicate matter. Wrong suggestions can lead to extreme negative effects and it leads to bad influence, which to be honest will not look good for you.
Pharmaceutical marketing is a very challenging job which requires loads of knowledge, so sharing your personal opinion of the product to your vulnerable and insecure large audience will not generate you followers.

WHAT CAN YOU DO?

Oh, I mean what you SHOULD do.
– Share your personal experience after contacting your dermat or any doctor preferred by you to confirm whether the product is safe for marketing to the masses.
– Emphasise on the term “my personal experience, may differ for you” as common knowledge as it may be, everyone is not born with the same skin. So the product may differ for every skin colour and type. So mentioning that the results may vary from person to person makes the audience aware of the circumstances they may face.
That’s it! Your job is Done! following these simple steps may protect you from someone holding you accountable for their bad results. (And also if you leave a doctors job to them!)
