“MacMichaelsScience”, a popular YouTuber, has been complaining about the reduced quality of YouTube videos. “They are mostly clickbait with SEO keyword stuffed subtitles, all being posted at rapid pace. They leverage cookie cutter stock images and follow a format to outpace all the other creators. I’ve been outpaced, and it’s distressing.”
McMichaelsScience’s videos normally covered topics about science, and had his own format that made his videos viral. However, he can no longer keep up with the video generators, so he has to go get a regular job again. It will be terrible to see him go. His viewers will now see him in the restaurant however, where he works washing dishes and mopping floors.
He plans to close down his YouTube channel this week, so it may no longer be available by the time you see it.
Change is on the horizon though, that will allow YouTube to regain the state and quality that it maintained before. 2024 will mark the end of YouTube’s ability to receive uploads via their website, moving them forward into a new era of video content.
In YouTube’s terms of service for 2024, it highlights that they will be focusing on reducing AI generated videos, and supporting high quality channels who put time into editing videos, and channels with authentic content. This means creators and aggregators of home videos will remain in the interest of YouTube.
This will however come with some wanted and unwanted changes.
