A lot of people don’t like Jake Paul.
They envy his success.
That’s fine, but being envious of someone without learning from them is foolish.
In this article, I’m going to explain why everything Jake touches turns to gold.
I’m mostly going to focus on his venture into professional boxing because I think it’s the most interesting.
Reason 1: Massive Personal Brand
Jake wasn’t an unknown prospect when he started boxing.
He already had millions of followers from all of his different social media channels.
These people will be intrigued by everything he does for the rest of his life.
Right now it’s fighting, in 10 years it’ll be something else.
Whatever the case, he will always have a passionate audience watching him.
Compare Jake’s starting point in the fight game to the average boxing prospect.
They have no fans.
They have no distribution networks.
In short, they have no leverage.
The only way they can get to the top is by knocking people into the shadow realm.
This is a very dangerous game.
One loss and your ranking drops, ruining your chance for glory.
This is night and day to Jake’s position.
Even if Jake loses, it’s not the end of the world.
Why?
Because his fans don’t care.
He will be a massive draw regardless of any results.
Reason 2: Walk The Walk
Jake Paul talks a lot of trash.
At one point he was calling out some of the biggest names in the fighting industry.
Names like Conor McGregor and Canelo Alvarez.
At the time people thought he was insane.
How could he possibly fight the sports biggest stars?
Then, something incredible happened.
He fought a guy called Ben Askren, a former MMA world champion in Bellator.
People were intrigued, how would Jake match up against an actual fighter?
The answer was: Really well.
Jake knocked Askren out in the first round with a brutal punch that took the former fighters soul.
It was embarrassing for Askren.
But it was vindication for Jake.
This was all he needed to start dominating the industry.
And dominate he did.
Next he fought Tyron Woodley, a man who not too long ago was the undisputed UFC welterweight champion.
He was a savage.
What happened?
Jake beat him.
Twice!
The first fight was very boring by all accounts, Jake won on points.
The second fight was also boring.
The only difference was, Jake knocked Woodley out to finish the fight in the later rounds.
I remember seeing this and having my mind blown.
For context, when Woodley was a UFC world champion, Jake was still making silly music videos on YouTube.
It was unbelievable what he was doing.
Next he fought arguably the greatest fighter in MMA history, Anderson Silva.
He casually beat him as well.
Why am I going on about all these incredible results?
Well, the more Jake wins, the more his stock rises.
Not only were all of his fans tuning in, he had MMA diehards tuning in to watch him lose.
He became the heel (the villain).
The reputation Jake has garnered from his results has made him one of the sport’s biggest stars.
Not only that, he’s estimated to have made close to £50 million from all of his fights thus far.
For context, the biggest stars in the UFC only earn between $500,000 and $3,000,000 per fight.
Jake has only fought 5 professional fights…
I hope you learnt something from this article.
I find it fascinating how a guy my age has been able to find so much success.
All because he started creating content as a teenager 10 years ago.
If this doesn’t sell you on the importance of building a personal brand, I don’t know what will.
And Jake, if you’re reading this, good luck with your next fight.
